Tonight at 8:30, NBC will finally premiere the long awaited semi-spinoff of The Office, Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones. Even though the show has been getting some mixed reviews, I will definitely be tuning in, if just to see Amy Poehler on my television screen again. Hopefully, Parks and Recreation will be the next great sitcom and not just a poor-man's version of The Office.

Mike Judge of Office Space fame has a new movie coming out on September 4th called Extract. The newly-released trailer looks really funny, and gives movie goers another opportunity to see Mila Kunis in a movie role after her great performance in last Spring's brilliant Forgetting Sarah Marshall, as well as Ben Affleck playing a stoner dude. Oh yeah, the always lovable Jason Bateman stars, too. Check out the teaser trailer and see if the film will be as enjoyable as Office Space.

The Real Life Gossip Girl

Earlier in the year, Bravo announced that they were creating a reality show (in the same vein as their hit, The Real Housewives of Orange County) about the fabulous lives' of New York City's most lavish teenagers. Sound familiar? Newly dubbed NYC Prep, this reality show will follow the fascinating lives of several rich teenagers, a la Gossip Girl. Will this show be good TV? Will it be bad TV? Will it be good bad TV? I'm thinking the latter...

"Britney: For The Record"

A few months ago, MTV aired a documentary entitled Britney:For The Record that detailed the day to day life of Britney Spears from the MTV Video Music Awards in August to the eventual filming of her music video, Womanizer, in late September. Though the documentary was not supposed to make you sympathize with Britney, it was supposed to make you understand what her life is like nowadays. Viewers were able to see that Britney was on the road to recovery and more ready than she had ever been for a comeback. This deleted scene from the DVD of Britney: For The Record (out now) shows a tender moment in which Britney is finally able to drive her car again. Let's hope Britney stays healthy and keeps on making good music, folks!

Mad Men is by far one my favorite shows, so after reading that Lionsgate has trademarked this television show to make into a video game, I was excited, to say the least. Some possible challenges:
1) Smoke as many cigarettes as you can in the allotted time
2) Drink as many drinks as you can in the allotted time
3) Talk down to as many women as you possibly can in the allotted time
4) Bitch slap Pete Campbell for money to buy cigarettes and liquor.

Eli's Sexy Daisies

ABC just announced that it will, in fact, be airing the final episodes of Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty, Sexy, Money this summer. Beginning on May 20th, ABC will air the remaining episodes of those shows that were canceled way too prematurely. Though I never watched Eli Stone or Dirty, Sexy, Money, Pushing Daisies was easily one of my favorite shows on television--until it was canceled, that is. Pushing Daisies (which starred Lee Pace and Anna Friel) was a quirky television show that combined both the elements of fantasy, humor, satire and drama, all in a Tim Burton-esque fashion. Pushing Daisies was a gem that will be greatly missed.
This scene of supporting character Olive Snook (brilliantly played by Kristin Chenoweth) performing her own rendition of "Hopelessly Devoted To You" is just one of the reasons why I loved this show so much:

Observe and Blog

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend an advanced screening of Seth Rogen's new movie, Observe and Report. While I definitely thought the movie had some pretty funny moments (Anna Faris as blonde bimbo Brandy was hysterical), I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The movie was a lot darker than I had expected, and the random violent action scenes seemed a little displaced. But after reading Lisa Scwarzbaum's extremely positive review of the film in this week's Entertainment Weekly, I might have to see it again. The trailer, as well as a great interview with Seth Rogen in which he compares Observe and Report to a comedic Scorsese movie, are posted below:

After recently releasing the trailer for the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are, Spike Jonze has now created a trailer for another classic children's book adaptation: Everybody Poops. Even though I only see Everybody Poops being sold in stores such as Urban Outfitters, you can bet it got me through some tough times whe I was younger. Is it bad that I would totally pay to see this movie?

Lindsay Lohan is SO fetch! Maybe not.

Lindsay Lohan graces the cover of yet another Us Weekly magazine this week, only this time she's here to talk about her recent breakup with long time lover, Samantha Ronson. Poor Lindsay Lohan. While her career showed great promise after her starring role in Mean Girls and The Parent Trap (come on, she played twins!), her personal life has often over-shadowed her professional life. With duds like the underrated Georgia Rule and unintentionally funny I Know Who Killed Me, Lohan's big comeback movie was supposed to be the pre-natal comedy, Labor Pains. But as the story goes, Lohan's next flick will be taking the ABC Family route. Yes, Labor Pains will air this summer, probably after an Au Pair marathon (not that I'm complaining). Watch the trailer below and see if you think Lohan deserves another chance with her love life and with her career:

Zac Efron's Tool Party

Funny or Die released its newest video this morning, starring Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and Brody Jenner, to name a few. Co-directed by Hairspray's Adam Shankman, the video revolves around Zac Efron's fictional pool party. The video has its moments, but there's something about tool extraordinaire Brody Jenner discussing our current financial crisis that just rubs me the wrong way. Watch the video below:

10 Things I Might, Perhaps, Like or Hate About This Idea

Reports surfaced a few months back that ABC Family was working on a television adaptation of the quintessential 90s film, 10 Things I Hate About You. It was announced today that the sitcom version of 10 Things I Hate About You will be part of ABC Family's summer roster. Good news? Bad news? Utter catastrophe? While the film is undeniably one of my favorite movies, I'm not sure if an ABC Family sitcom will be able to do the movie justice. However, the fact that Larry Miller will be reprising his role as Mr. Statford is promising. All feelings aside, you can bet I'll be tuning in to watch when this series premieres on July 7th.
In the mean time, check out this 10 second promo that doesn't really give us any inclination as to how positively or negatively it might turn out:

Giddy for "Glee"

Thankfully, Fox is running promos for its newest show Glee throughout American Idol, the most watched program on television. Premiering on May 19th, Glee is the newest edition to the Fox lineup. Not only does Glee star Spring Awakening's Lea Michele and Role Models' Jane Lynch, but it comes from the genius that is Ryan Murphy, creator of the brilliant television shows Popular and Nip/Tuck. According to FOX.com, Glee is "a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of all: Nationals."

Hopefully, this bastard child of High School Musical, Freaks and Geeks and Fame will live up to my expectations. Check out the promo below:

Ghosts of Matthew McConaughey's Career

While I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a huge lover of romantic comedies, how many times can we watch a movie where Matthew McConaughey tries to deal with his relationship problems? How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days was charming and The Wedding Planner--face it--was brilliant. Right now, McConaughey needs to rid himself of that perennial bachelor label and do something that won't eventually end up on TBS.

The Fast and the Bi-Curious?

The always lovable Seth Rogen hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend, and while the show may not have been as great as his first stint hosting, there were still some pretty funny sketches. My favorite would have to be Seth Rogen and Andy Samberg's take on the recently released movie, The Fast and the Furious--err, I mean, Fast and Furious. I would have never guessed that Paul Walker and Vinn Diesel could have so much sexual tension.

NBC's "Kings" not so regal after all

After garnering pretty miserable ratings for the past few weeks, NBC's newest drama Kings is being pulled from its prime location on Sunday nights to the television graveyard that is Saturday night . Although I haven't seen an episode of Kings, it seemed to be a pretty promising new show. Unfortunately for NBC, viewers just weren't interested in watching this modern interpretation of David and Goliath.

Earlier in the day, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly posted an amazing website on his Twitter account that compares the television show Lost to the Jewish Holiday, Passover. Being an avid Lost-watcher, as well as being one of the chosen people, I have to say that the similarities are truly uncanny. My favorite is probably the comparison between the Smoke Monster and the Ten Commandments. There may be no Jews on the island, but we can sure as hell bet God is definitely a fan of Lost.

Hey guys. Pretty new to the blogosphere. I still feel weird even using the term "blogosphere." Anyway, my life is basically consumed by pop culture, so I thought what better way to share some of the coolest pop culture information than starting up a blog dedicated to, well, pop culture. From movies and television shows, and maybe even music, I'll try and inform you guys about some of the coolest and most important pop culture news, clips and websites that are out there.
